The Regional Quranic Contest Held in Rwanda
The Islamic Community in Rawanda, in collaboration with HQMI Organization, held the Regional Koranic Contest, under the auspices of the Muslim Association of Rwanda. It was attended by 42 reciters, males and females from: Uganda, Burundi, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, as well as Rwanda.
The contest included six components: the complete memorization of the entire Holy Quran, the Memorization of the entire Holy Quran, the Memorization of 15 Chapters of the Holy Quran with Tajweed, the Memorization of 10 and 5 Chapters of the Holy Quran with Tajweed, in addition to the memorization of One and Two Chapters of the Holy Quran with Tajweed.
The activities of the contest were supervised by a jury panel composed of four members. An honrary ceremony was held to honor the participants in Jishun district that was attended by His Eminence Sheikh Omar Soliman, Deputy Mufti of Rwanda, Athna Ghanda, the member of the Judicial Council, in addition to a number of the Holy Quran scholars and teachers, the Quran memorizers and their parents.
The ceremony was inaugurated with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an. Then the Deputy Mufti delivered a speech in which he praised and thanked HQMI Organization, chaired by Dr. Abdullah Basfar, for serving the Noble Quran. He urged the students to exert more efforts in memorizing and reviewing the Noble Quran. Then several speeches were delivered in which the speakers expressed their pleasure to attend this great event, and commended the Muslim Association of Rwanda for organizing the contest. At the close of the ceremony, gifts and prizes were distributed among the winners.
